Baby Burletsques

TV Series: Season 0?; Episode #??: Polly Tix

The joke behind these shorts was to have adult plots enacted by 3 to 5-year-old kids dressed only in diapers held together by a large safety pin in the front. Some extra clothing may be added to suggests a kid's character, such as a millionaire also wearing a top hat, French cuffs (no shirt) and spas over bare feet.

The 'Polly Tix in Washington' centered around a plot to ruin a senator by getting him involved in a sex scandal. The vamp hired to seduce the senator is none other than a 3-year-old Shirley Temple. In her first scene, she is seen at a scaled-down dressing table sitting in toddler-size lingerie (a bra and lace step-ins). But when she arrives at the senator's office, she is in the standard diaper with pearl necklace and a stylishly placed feather in her hair. Yes, Shirley Temple appeared topless in movies before her big break. There is no AR in this, but it sure looks like somebody ARed the whole world!

Baby Burletsques, eh? It sounds terminally adorable. Heh, what in the world were they smoking back then? Cause I want some! ;)- The Oni.

Baby Geniuses

Movie:

All babies are born knowing the "secrets of the universe" and with the ability to speak with each other. What adults hear as baby-talk is actually sophisticated conversation. In BABY GENIUSES, Doctor Elena Kinder (Turner) is an intelligent, scheming and wildly ambitious woman. She heads BABYCO, the world's largest corporation that manufactures products for babies. However, what the public does not know is that she also funds a secret research lab, together with her partner in crime, Doctor Heap (Lloyd), devoted solely to cracking the code to this special baby language which she is sure does exist. It will mean enormous profit and power if she is the first to do it. But when Sly, the best and brightest of these baby geniuses, escapes from the secret lab into the outside world, Drs.. Kinder and Heap have to get him back before he blows the lid off of their secret forever. Sly organizes the babies in the outside world to invade the secret lab in order to free the baby geniuses and bring down Doctor Kinder's evil empire.

Bang Crunch

Book: by Neil Smith (2007)

Debut volume with 9 stories. The title story is about an 8 year old girl with Fred Hoyle syndrome, in which the aging process is speeded up and then reverses. Eepie Carpetrod won't live much beyond her 10th birthday. She ages a month a day, and by the time her mother trots her to a doctor her vocabulary has ballooned, she has grown 12 inches, has mastered longhand and long division and has read Madame Bovary. Her mum argues she's eternal, her mind and soul expanding forever like the universe, an allusion to the Big Bang theory. She knows her death will be her brain collapsing under its own weight, the Big Crunch. The pace is frenetic, to match Eepie's experience of life, and the 2nd-person narration is weirdly effective in its matter-of-factness (you know, you live, you die). The disease whisks her forward in time, then back. She may be the first character in fiction to expand and contract with the universe. (AP, AR)

Banned Book

Movie: by Betsy Schneider

"Since her birth in 1997 I have made 2 photographs of my daughter Madeleine every day. She is standing up and looking straight into the camera. When my son Viktor was born in 2002, I expanded the project to document his development. Each day I make a full length vertical image of each child and a horizontal shot of their face. The aim of these pictures is not to provoke or to shock. The idea is to show time, change and growth. I came to it wanting to keep a record, wanting to hold on. More than 5 years later it remains an integral part of our lives, the first (sometimes the only) thing we do together each day. I decided that the body-shot would be unclothed for what seemed to me to be quite obvious reasons: I wanted to show how the body changes over time, I also wanted to record the incidental changes which happen day to day: their cuts and bruises, dirt, drawings on themselves, temporary tattoos, tans and sunburns. With clothes on, the work would have been more about what they wore each day, I am more interested in what their bodies look like each day. The work is very much about the child's body: the way it grows and absorbs life as well as the way the child's relationship to his/her body changes over time. I have found that people respond more strongly to the movement and the changes in the body-shots than the headshots. I am working on morphing the headshots into a video which I plan to eventually have as an extension of the work. The images are divided into 63 day / 9 week blocks, the digital prints measuring approximately 42x50 inches/110x130cm. The tiny, gradual changes in a child's development become the raw record of an individual's growth." (banned AP project)

Movie: (1989)

(AP) King Ankaris' young daughter Tamas (Celilia Tijerina) uses black magic to transform herself and seduce Aurion. She prays to a small version of the Mona Lisa to make her an adult, and after a brilliant magical display she is turned into a grown up woman. She returns to the castle and is killed by her own father. When she changes back into a little girl, he realizes that he has killed the joy of his life and quickly takes his own life. How can anyone who's ever spoken with 14 year old Tamis not recognize that voice? Tamis has some crazy accent that's pretty much unmistakable. She doesn't look all that different. Basically she transforms from a teenaged girl into a teenaged girl with slut makeup and permed hair. So the extent of Tamis magical powers is to have makeup magically applied and get her hair permed?

Kamandi gets them to Dr. Canus, who plugs them into their secret weapon: a boom box. The sound waves destroy the robots and immobilize Misfit. As the future heroes leave, Dr. Canus admits that it's a shame that animals are held captive, and Batman warns him that Gotham has a leash law.

In Fawcett City, Dr. Sivana is on a rampage when Batman arrives to stop him. The Caped Crusader easily disarms him, but Sivana points out that he's gotten help. His new allies, the Monster Society of Evil, arrive to attack Batman. A WHIZ TV news van arrives, and Sivana realizes that Captain Marvel can't be far behind.

Billy and Mary Marvel meet with their friend Freddy Freeman, who is happy that they've loaned him a share of their powers. They overhear a newscast of the battle and recite their magic words, transforming into Captain Marvel, Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel Jr.

Batman is overwhelmed but the Marvel Family arrives and attack he villains. Batman frees himself and together the heroes make short work of the Monster Society. Sivana whips out his newest weapon, an age-reversing ray. Batman is hit before the others can destroy the weapon, and Sivana uses a smoke grenade as cover so he and his Society can escape in a rocket. The Marvels check on Batman, who is now a ten-year-old.

At his secret lair, Sivana berates his allies for failing to steal the parts he needs for his death ray. However, a new villain enters and says that the problem is the Society's leadership. The villain boasts that he can increase the death ray's power a thousand fold, and he will use his mind control powers to turn the Marvels against each other. The Society votes Sivana out and accept their new leader: Mr. Mind, a small worm.

Batman briefly worries about his acne, but then sets out to track the lens that Sivana stole and the other components for the weapon. The one thing the Society doesn't have is a power source, and the Fawcett City provider is the only thing suitable.

The villains are stealing the fusion chamber, while Sivana complains to Mr. Mind. The leader tells him to leave the thinking to him, but Sivana points out that the Marvels are coming. Captain Marvel demands to know how to reverse the effects of the deaging ray. The ten-year-old Batman arrives late and the Society attacks. Unseen, Mr. Mind enters Mary Marvel's ear and takes control of her mind, turning her against Captain Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr. The villain then enters Captain Marvel Jr.'s ear and forces him to attack Captain Marvel. Meanwhile, Batman grows ever younger and finds himself fighting the Society. Mr. Mind enters Captain Marvel's mind and he attacks his sister and friend, complaining that they only have powers because of him. Batman tries to stop them while the villains escape with the collider. Mr. Mind slips away and boasts to Sivana that he has succeeded where the genius hasn't.

Back at the fight, Batman tricks Captain Marvel Jr. into saying his magical word, and the magic lightning strikes him and the others, transforming them back to their normal forms. The feelings of resentment are still there and the three of them leave, causing a toddler Batman to break into tears.

The next day, toddler Batman observes as each of the Marvels goes their separate ways, and determines a way to bring them back together. He starts leaving drawings for each of them, showing them fighting and toddler Batman in tears.

Mr. Mind puts the finishing touches on the death ray, but Sivana casts him to the ground and shoots the weapon at him to test it. Mr. Mind grows into a gigantic mantis-like creature, and explains that he counted on Sivana to double-cross him. The giant Mr. Mind goes on a rampage, but toddler Batman vows to stop him, realizing that the villain turned the Marvels against each other. However, the reunited Marvel Family arrives and attacks. As the villain fires beams of energy from its antenna, baby Batman runs to the growth ray projector and rewires it to become a shrinking ray. Batman attacks and draws Mr. Mind toward the growth ray projector, but is too small to reach the controls as he becomes even younger. However, he uses a Batarang to pull the lever, reverting Mr. Mind to his normal form. Once the Marvels arrive, baby Batman directs them to the growth ray, and they use it on him to undo the deaging effect. (Male Ar/RN)

So Ben changed into Ditto and fought Eon, but Eon disappears and the Ditto's think they pummeled Eon into oblivion. But when Gwen and Grandpa Max arrive Ben turns back to normal and is shocked that Gwen's younger and he is to. Ben tries to tell them he's a teenager and that Eon brought him here, Gwen and Max do wonder why Ben's voice is different. So they ask Ben where young Ben is then it shows young Ben in teen Ben's body which young Ben loves. Rook and Max also wonder why their Ben's voice is different just then Eon appears and Ben is about to fight, but Ben notices the new Omnitrix and all the aliens and says this is the best day ever! When Eon mentions Professor Paradox Ben is confused and Eon remembers young Ben hasn't meet him yet and realizes Paradox will go to teen Ben. Back in the past Gwen asks Ben what's she like and Ben says he misses her making Gwen think she's dead, but Ben corrects her that she just goes to college early. Max tells Ben he should stop telling them about the future just then Paradox appears with a lot more features on his clothes and says it's because of a time war. Max and Gwen are confused and Paradox introduces himself and Ben and Paradox talk in private Paradox tells Ben Eon wants nothing less than absolute power over everything. Paradox tells Ben he trapped Eon in this timeline and that he can only travel to the past, present, and future. He also says the key to get out is with Paradox's Chrononavigator (his pocket watch) which is like a GPS for the multiverse. Just then Eon reappears and Paradox and Eon get in a fight and Eon cuts off Paradox's robotic hand. Before Eon and Paradox leaves Paradox gives Ben a clue to where his crononavigator is and Ben realizes its his robotic hand because Paradox said well in hand. Ben ponders what to do, weirding Gwen out because of how much more mature he is compared to his younger self. He then comes up with an idea, making Gwen promise to find him no matter where he is in EXACTLY five years from now; he leaves with the robot hand to hide it. At the plumber headquarters young Ben is being mischievous Rook wonder's if there's someone who has experience with young Ben. Then you hear an I do which was from Gwen asks if Ben's mentally 11 Ben examines Gwen and says she's still a dweeb. Rooks asks why Gwen's here, and she explains the promise teen Ben made her keep. Ben says it wasn't him and Max wonder's if his 16 year old mind got sent back to his 11 year old body which he calls a cross time brain swap. Rook asks if she recalls anything else, to which Gwen replies she has to take Ben to Mr. Smoothy's, to which Ben replies gross! However, Rook points out that teen Ben loves smoothies, something the confuses the younger Ben.

Then Gwen tells Ben that in the future, this is where they and Kevin used to hang out. This makes Ben wonder who "Kevin" is, only to be shocked to find out it's Kevin Levin. Gwen tries to explain Kevin changed and became a good guy, but her tone immediately makes the younger Ben realise she's dating Kevin; he finds this grosser than smoothies. Examining their surroundings, Rook points out that there is a Sumo Slammer sticker on a pole. Gwen says Ben should look at the top of the pole so Ben turns into Diamondhead and see some co-ordinates along with Armodrillo scribbled. Then they follow the co-ordinates and reach Pakmar's new place. The Pakmar-place-Ben-comes-destroys gag reoccurs when Armodrillo digs into a specific point (as per the co-ordinates) and find another no. written down there but accidentally hit a pipeline and the trio run away with Pakmar's place flooding. Then Ben turns different aliens to find hidden co-ordinates (Goop to see in a tap, NRG to go in Hot Reactors and Wildmutt to search the ground and dig.) They finally come back to Mr. Smoothy's and Gwen says why would Ben do all that clue-thing to just come back where you started to which Ben replies that nobody would look for the treasure, if the treasure is hidden at the place you started to which Gwen agrees was a clever plan. Ben turns to Big Chill and gets the Chrono-navigator from the Mr. Smoothy's vendor. Then he tries to check (acts like shooting and then backscratches) what it is when Eon comes and takes it.

Eon explains that what the dim-witted Ben had is the key to the multi-verse, summoning his minions to fight. However, as they're defeated and Eon continues to call more, the portal they came out don't close. Now both the present and past Ben and Gwens can see each other. teen Ben turns into Wildvine to reach into the past to take the Chrononavigator from Eon, but is repelled. Paradox appears in another portal, berating Eon for not listening to him about the dangers of messing with space/time. Gwen tells her younger self a spell that can free Paradox from his imprisonment. Both cast the spell and succeeded in freeing the professor, who promptly tells both Bens to turn into Clockwork to trap Eon between both points in time to restore order to the universe. However, teen Ben points out Clockwork is not available in the prototype Omnitrix. Paradox counters by explaining that both Omnitrixes are synced to each other now thanks to Eon's bumbling, allowing the prototype to access the DNA needed for the transformation. Both Ben turn into Clockwork and blast Eon from both points in time. Young Ben quickly deduce their memories of the event and the event itself will be erased.

Time is restored to normal, with teen Ben and Rook enjoying smoothies outside Mr. Smoothies. Ben is bored, hoping something for some universal calamity; Rook agrees, hoping something interesting will happen. At that very moment, Ben 10,000 (Ben 10) arrives through a green portal, asking teen Ben for Paradox's location. He informs his younger self the Chronosapiens had gone rogue and Maltruence's temporal beasts are on a inter-dimensional rampage, said this time war is getting out of hand. Teen Ben is delighted to hear about a "Time War", finding the idea awesome. (Mental Male Mind Switch)

Best of Fritz Leiber

Book: (12/30/1974)

I'm a big fan of Leiber's work, mostly in the vein of the Gray Mouser and Fafhrd stories. Thus, I was somewhat disappointed to discover that the works in this volume didn't really veer toward the sword and sorcery style of fantasy. However, that disappointment was short lived as I got into the collection, and while I can't say that the science fantasy and more straight sci-fi stories have held up over time (some are particularly dated) - nor can I say that Leiber approaches the talents of Bradbury or Asimov - the collection was overall more pleasant than not and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a Leiber fan.

Mr. Young, John's father, is obsessed with staying young. When he receives a potion labeled ELIXA DA YOOF he drinks it all at one time, and wakes up as an infant. Black Cat Mystic #60

Comic Book: Harvey Publications: "A Town Full of Babies!" (Nov. 1957)

Two reporters, Frank and Doc, get their car stuck in the mud while covering a flood. They walk into what appears to be a deserted town, enter a house, help themselves to the can goods and cigars, and drink the tap water. As they settle into the living room, they are joined by a crawling diapered baby. Looking around, they find dozens of babies. After sleeping the night, they awake with Frank having lost his stubble beard and Doc's mustache is no longer gray. They credit their youthful look to the country air. After walking around town and finding still more babies, they stumble onto a hidden spring apparently opened up by the flood. Tasting this water (same taste as the tap water), Doc shrinks into a teen (no more mustache). Concluding that the flood uncovered the Fountain of Youth, they head back to the town, leave out bowls of milk for all the babies, and shrink into infants themselves. The story ends with Frank, now a nearly bald infant, crawling out of his shirt, thinking to the reader about how lucky he is to get to live his life over. One interesting note from these early days of the Comics Code Authority, the only baby with a girl's hairstyles apparently (at the request of the code) had an oversize red dress drawn over her diaper-only form (you can still see the outlines under the addition to the artwork).

The Blonde Vol. 2: Bondage Palace

Eros Graphic Album Series #18: Part 01: (08/30/1936)

The Blonde is summoned by the Popess Crimilda and hired to find the formula for a serum of eternal youth. The formula is in one of four apartments in a building. Before The Blonde arrives, we see the receptionist of the building being tied up. Next we see aging actress Amita Berg getting tied up in her first-floor apartment and robbed per her own instructions. She wants publicity. Her maid is also tied up. The hired thieves are supposed to take and deliver some top-secret documents and call the police but they forget. The Blonde checks out the apartment of athletes Olga Koslowska and Tatiana Kubinski on the fourth floor. They are actually agents also looking for the formula. Through the window The Blonde sees them fight, and one ties up the other. The Blonde sneaks in and ties up the other one in her sleep. On the second floor, a nurse reads a romance to the elderly tenant, Ethel Lorimar. Downstairs, the receptionist manages to free herself and heads for the alarm button, but is intercepted by a nurse and tied up again. The nurse who was reading is then tied up and replaced by the new nurse. The new nurse gives the old lady a truth serum. On the third floor, the baby-sitter for General Prittwitt's son Junior reports to her employer. Junior ties her up, and The Blonde arrives in time to add a gag, then begins searching the apartment for the formula. Junior's room is booby-trapped, and he catches The Blonde and ties her up. On the first floor the maid and actress have almost freed each other, and the receptionist though still tied up has almost reached the alarm button again. Elswhere, the two thieves are having bad luck at poker, discover they've been cheated, and tie up the card sharp. In a massage room elsewhere, the general is plotting with another woman, who turns out to be Popess Crimilda's secretary. The "nurse" on the second floor is actually an agent of the general's, searching for the formula as well. When the general leaves, the Popess finds her secretary, on whom she has been eavesdropping, and is not happy. The secretary gets tied up. The Blonde gets free of Junior's ropes and ties up the agent on the second floor. Now everybody in the building is tied up except The Blonde, the sleeping old lady, and Junior. The Blonde searches the second floor and discovers that Ethel Lorimar is a scientist who has explored Jodos, the planet of long life, and is also the General's mother-in-law. She is also a fan of Amita Berg, and The Blonde finds a letter saying the formula has been given to the actress. The Popess tortures her secretary, and The Blonde tortures the fake nurse, and the result is the same: Both say they were working for The General. The general gets tied up in traffic heading for the building. The maid on the first floor gets free and runs to call the police, but The Blonde intercepts her and ties her up again. Soon The Blonde has the formula and agrees when Amita asks her to deliver the papers to the massage room. As she is leaving the building debating how to best profit from the formula, she comes upon the receptionist who is finally free and reaching for the alarm button. The Blonde ties her up again. On the second floor the old lady suddenly starts talking in the Jodo language: "Klatu Barada-Nikto," etc. The nurse/agent hears her and gets excited, but is still tied up. The Blonde attempts to deliver the formula to the massage room, but only finds the Popess's secretary, all tied up. Then from behind the Popess knocks out The Blonde, whom she didn't expect to find there, and gets the formula in an unexpected stroke of good luck.

When The Blonde wakes up she tickles the tied-up secretary to find out that she was working for The General. The secretary also says the Ethel Lorimar knows the formula by heart. Indeed, on the second floor of the Palace the nurse/agent listens while the old woman recites the formula in the Jodo language, and starts sleepwalking toward the window. Meanwhile the Popess visits the Zamozoo Clinic to begin using the formula. At the clinic most of the patients are tied up. Also meanwhile, the traffic jam is cleared up and the General heads for the building. The Blonde arrives at the building at the same time, and ties up the secretary with the receptionist. The old woman is sleepwalking on the outside of the building because the drug gave her "gamma anti-gravity power," and the agents on the fourth floor, who are now untied, spot her. In the General's apartment, The Blonde confronts the General, the General disputes the information gained from the secretary, and Junior ties up The Blonde again. The General's agent from the second floor makes it upstairs and interrupts, though still bound and gagged, The Blonde turns the tables and ties Junior and his mother up. The Blonde throws the general's boots out the window and they strike Ethel Lorimar, who falls back into her own apartment. Olga and Tatiana are stalking her, but get distracted in a fight with each other. In Zamozoo the Popess is preparing for her treatment while the staff has lunch. It smells so good that the patients burst their Saran Wrap bonds and tie up the staff. The formula isn't working right, and nobody can help bring corrective solutions because they're all tied up. The Blonde follows the sleepwalking Ethel into a hidden laboratory, and Ethel dies, releasing a holographic will. They learn that "Junior" is actually his missing father because of a mistake with a trial dose of the formula. The correct formula is stated once, and then is erased. Although most of the characters are present, they seem to miss it because of a noisy police raid. As The Blonde is being hauled off to prison on Phoebus III, she she thinks to herself that she did indeed hear the formula clearly.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

Movie: (1992)

With dizzying cinematic tricks and astonishing performances, Francis Coppola's 1992 version of the oft-filmed Dracula story is one of the most exuberant, extravagant films of the 1990s. Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder, as the Count and Mina Murray, are quite a pair of star-crossed lovers. She's betrothed to another man; he can't kick the habit of feeding off the living. Anthony Hopkins plays Van Helsing, the vampire slayer, with tongue firmly in cheek. Tom Waits is great fun as Renfield, the hapless slave of Dracula who craves the blood of insects and cats. Sadie Frost is a sexy Lucy Westenra. And poor Keanu Reeves, as Jonathan Harker, has the misfortune to be seduced by Dracula's three half-naked wives. There's a little bit of everything in this version of Dracula: gore, high-speed horseback chases, passion, and longing. (old age to prime age / Ar)

Breaking Dawn

Book: (09/23/2008)

In Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final installment in the series, Bella’s story plays out in some unexpected ways. The ongoing conflicts that made this series so compelling--a human girl in love with a vampire, a werewolf in love with a human girl, the generations-long feud between werewolves and vampires--resolve pretty quickly, apparently so that Meyer could focus on Bella’s latest opportunity for self-sacrifice: giving her life for someone she loves even more than Edward. How close she comes to actually making that sacrifice is questionable, which is a big shift from the earlier books. Even though you knew Bella would make it through somehow, the threats to her life, and to her relationship with Edward, had previously always felt real. It’s as if Meyer was afraid of hurting her characters too much, which is unfortunate, because the pain Bella suffered at losing Edward in New Moon, and the pain Jacob suffered at losing Bella again and again, are the fire and the heart that drive the whole series.
